Our Story

Our Mission

Established in 1983, the Greater Kansas City Writing Project (GKCWP) is one of nearly 200 university-based National Writing Project sites. We are a Pre-K - College community of educators and lifelong learners working in conjunction with the University of Central Missouri.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Is to improve student achievement by improving the teaching of writing and improving learning for ALL learners. We believe that access to high-quality educational experiences is a basic right of all learners and a cornerstone of equity.
